Muspelheim, the primordial realm of fire! This is a realm covered in molten lava and fires of the deep. One does not simply walk across the plains of fire, for creatures of the deep flames is what awaits anyone who dares enter this realm. Many have walked into Muspelheim and never returned.

Muspelheim is ruled and guarded by the Jötunn(giant) Surtr. He is one of the elder Jötunn and it’s foretold that he will do battle against the god Freyr during the event of Ragnarok. He is said to carry a giant sword of flaming metals into battle and is known as a fierce warrior. From Muspelheim he rules over the fire jötunn or sons of Muspell, and right now he has his eyes set on Midgard!

For reasons still unknown, someone or something have build shrines and temples all across the realm of men. Using dark magic they have opened up gateways to the Bifost linking Muspelheim with Midgard. From out the portal came dark horrible creatures. They stalk the shadows attacking anyone in sight, and during the night, they roam the plains of Midgard.

Surtr, not wanting to draw the attention of the Vanir stays in Muspelheim with his fire jötunn. But instead sends out creatures that are of neither worlds. The realm of men are forced to defend themselves, for each night a new wave of monsters emerges from the portals. War has since long raged across the plains of Midgard, factions fighting for supremacy over the land, and not even this horde of monsters can stop that. But the citizens of Midgard still has hope, for many brave warriors have gone of on a quest to stop whatever force is at work.

Many of these warriors are seeking glory, others do it for the well being of the realm. But for what ever reason they decide to do it for. They truly are Midgard’s only hope!
